Whats the feeling on the ports, I would think one of us would speak up. John whats the talk around there, I mean you work for one of the ports. By the way, I am voting for O'Malley for Governor of MD.
Being as most 7-11 convience stores are owned by Arab families, the next 'investigation' the U.S. will be launching is into these chains of stores. Think of all the terrorist activity they could be hiding - stuffing the twinkies with poisions and spraying nerve gas into the doritos.
UAE is now relinquishing control of the ports, and will be handing them to an american company.
This seems like the US has developed a prejudice against anything coming from the middle east. I believe we will end up regretting the way the government has acted against this business.

> Comedy central Check out daily show called portscenter. I also have not made up my mind. I know that UAE is all about money, which also means that outside influences with money can push them in the wrong direction, I also realise that we need an friend in that part of the world.
Most people around Customs think its a bad idea. But I can't say that I have made up my mind yet. The article that you posted has O'Malley saying an interesting thing. He is quoted as saying.. "We are not going to turn over the port of Baltimore to a foreign government. It's not going to happen.". Yet the port was already owned by a UK-based company. Last time I checked, that was a foriegn entity. But maybe I am splitting hairs. For now, the UAE is our friend in the region. They are a very Western Arab nation and I know for a fact they have a customs operations/immigration operation that rivals the US. (My company is working with a company that installed the entire thing.) But Osama and the Taliban were our "friends" in Afghanistan???!!!! If this company was not state-owned, I don't think there would be this much talk. What if the chinese-backed PSG bought those ports? Would the US care? China is not our friend. And for now, I don't see any american company pluncking down $8 billion. We are a capitalist society after all. Money talks!
